Hi, I’m Erin, and I created Fueling for Health Nutrition Consulting because, well, if you believed the internet, you’d think there’s a huge debate over whether eggs, carbs, or dairy are good or bad for you. AND if you asked most people about foods that are “good” or “bad” for you, you’d get a dozen different answers. In over the years, I found a lot of people with opinions that were not based in real science.
Growing up, I never had good eating habits. I hated vegetables, I skipped meals and I lived off of Mr. noodles, pasta, potatoes, and meat. I know GROSS right???? I was stubborn back then and I had no concept of creating balanced meals with fiber, protein, and vegetables. I was also diagnosed with vestibular neuronitis, a form of vertigo due to an infection when I was 3 years old. This created a lot of imbalance issues and motion sicknesses and I had to be exempt from fitness activities throughout grad school.
I was never considered overweight, probably because I spend most of my childhood being sick. After many years of failed attempts of being on medications (some experimental), my doctors couldn’t help me control my vertigo.
As I got older, I started developing different taste buds. I started incorporating more whole foods into my diet such as avocadoes, nuts, seeds, vegetables, beans, and legumes while at the same time reducing my pasta and potato consumption. While making these changes, I have noticed that
- I had more energy throughout the day
- I was able to sleep better at night
- I was able to concentrate better throughout the day
- My skin looked more hydrated
- I lost some weight 🙂
- My vertigo episodes have decreased (a lot)
After discovering how fueling with the right kinds of food and feeling like my health and happiness has been positively shifted, I have found my career destination and enrolled in the Bachelors of Science in Applied Human Nutrition program at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax.
While I was studying nutrition at university, I became increasingly aware of the food I ate and how it affected me. I learned WHY and HOW food can support health, how our food is metabolized and it’s connections to the environment, and lifestyle factors, etc.
My education, personal experience, and over 10 years of experience in the wellness industry have propelled me to create tools and coaching sessions for clients facing various nutrition-based problems.
Because many things contribute to our overall wellbeing, there is no set template for optimal health. Over the years, I’ve changed and adapted my nutrition habits in order to find balance, health, and happiness.
After graduating from MSVU in 2014, I launched Fueling for Health Nutrition Consulting. My mission is simple. I want my clients to enjoy foods and to debunk all the nonsense that you hear on the internet. I do not believe in diets, restrictions or quick fixes.
I love pizza, nachos, and chocolate. What I also love is having a positive relationship with food. I eat mostly protein and veggies during the weekdays and on the weekend I will have a cheat meal. Do I feel guilty the next day if I ate a few slices of pizza or a slice of chocolate cake? Heck, no!!! I continue the next day eating my protein and vegetables.
My goal is to help you create nutrition habits that will last a lifetime. Through 1-on-1 nutrition coaching, customized meal plans, food sensitivity testing, and group challenges, I’m able to help my clients reach their nutrition and wellness goals and overcome health challenges. I love to take popular favorite recipes and convert them into more nutritious recipes such as client favorites’ black bean brownies, almond fudge keto brownies or pan-seared scallops with citrus glaze
My passion for helping clients achieve overall health and wellness doesn’t stop there. You can also tune into 97.5 FM on Friday’s at 12 Noon AST to my show Your Health Matters which I also convert into a podcast.
Yours in good health,
